What You'll Need for a Successful Remote Online Online Notarization
Wheaton MN 56296
ALB Notary is commissioned by the State of Washington to perform virtual notarizations for anyone located in the United States. A virtual notarization -- also known as remote online notarization (RON) -- is a fast, secure, and convenient way to get your documents notarized from the comfort of your own home.
To complete a remote online notarization, each signer will need:
A US Driver's License
or US Passport
A computer or laptop with audio and video capabilities
Access to a secure and reliable internet connection
The document(s) you need notarized approved for remote online notarization
Multi-Factor Identification Process includes:
2. KBA (Knowledge-Based Authentication) Questions
KBA is a secure method that asks you a few multiple-choice questions based on your personal and financial history—things like previous addresses, vehicles you've owned, or places you've lived. These questions are generated from public records and are only something you should know.
Why is this important?
It helps ensure that only you can access and sign your documents. KBA is required by law for online notarizations in many states and is a vital step in protecting against fraud.
What to expect:
-
You’ll answer 5 multiple-choice questions.
-
You’ll need to answer at least 4 correctly within 2 minutes.
-
If you don’t pass on the first try, you’ll get a second attempt.
If you pass, you’re all set to move forward with your online notarization.
Important documents (PDF, DOCX, or a scanned file) can be safely uploaded by using a state-approved RON Platform.
ALB Notary is commissioned to perform Remote Online Notarizations using Washington State-approved RON platforms including:
Proof and BlueNotary.
Once identification verification process is complete, signer meets with the notary in a recorded audio-visual call. After the live session has ended, your notarized document will be available for download.
Please note: Your remote notarization session will be recorded as required by Washington State law. The video will be securely stored for at least 10 years, but it is not automatically shared with clients. If needed for legal or verification purposes, a request can be made to access the recording. You will receive a signed and sealed PDF copy of your notarized document immediately after the session.
1. Credential Analysis
A current and valid government-issued photo ID is required for every signing.
Acceptable IDs include:
-
Driver's License, Real ID, or State-Issued ID
-
Passport Card
